History of the River Fox Train
Originally built in 1911 by the Northern Electric Company, the River Fox Train’s railway was initially used for passenger travel between Sacramento and Woodland. By 1941, diesel freight operations took over, reducing passenger services. However, in 2003, the Sierra Railroad Company merged with the Yolo Short Line Railroad, reviving passenger excursions under the Sacramento River Train brand. Today, as the River Fox Train, it offers a variety of themed journeys, bringing history back to life for travelers of all ages. Click here to read about the Old Sugar Mill, Sacramento, CA
